Dearest Caid and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we, Christian, Ismay, and Claudia, Stewards for Great Western War XXIII, announce the postponement of this year’s event until October 2021. It saddens us to have to make this decision, but with the uncertainty in the world today we feel it would not be fiscally, socially, or morally responsible to continue to plan an event that may never be able to come to fruition.
As we mentioned in our last announcement we have consulted with many of our advisors and have weighed every option with regard to going forward with the war. The fact that there are still so many unknowns for the near future was the final deciding factor.
First and foremost, we feel that to take even the smallest risk with the health and lives of Caid’s populace, and our guests, is not morally responsible.
To allow our volunteer co-stewards, who spend hours helping to orchestrate the event, to pour their valuable time into something that may not happen is not socially responsible.
Finally, an event of this magnitude takes months of planning and there are many moving parts to make it come together. To lay out thousands of dollars for equipment, insurance, and labor when the chances of having permission to hold the event are slim, at best, is not fiscally responsible.
We hope each of you will understand the thought and compassion that went into making this decision and will join us in 2021 for GWW XXIII, the remix! Please stay tuned to this page for information on GWW 22¾ -- The In-Between War! We still have some fun and games up our sleeves!
We remain your stewards,
Christian, Ismay, and Claudia
